The Japanese Camellia

...the union between two lovers...

My first bloom of the Japanese Camellia .

According to the Chinese, the petals symbolize a young woman while the calyx, which holds the petals symbolize the young man "entrusted by the lady as her protector".

While the calyx holds the petals, so does the young man supports and protects the young woman.

A rare characteristic of the camellia is when the petals fall off so does the calyx.

A symbol of pure and devoted love.
